The time is now
October 2, 2017 begins the final 90-day period to report the Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) data in time to get credit for this year. If you have not yet submitted PQRS data for a consecutive 90-day period in 2017 you MUST start by October 2nd.
The MIPS program allows Medicare to collect data from providers about high-quality, low-cost care that uses technology effectively. This is one step towards a new way to reimburse providers based on outcomes and quality of care (rather than number of services billed).
Even if you don’t meet this year’s minimum threshold, we recommend submitting your reporting for the possible incentive bonus. You’ll get some practice with the system and be ready to handle MIPS reporting next year even if the threshold changes for 2018.
