Make the most of your summer slowdown

Summertime Compliance ActivitiesSummer is in full swing. Long hot days spent with family and friends at the beach, the lake, or just charting new adventures are typical for many. At any given time in the summer 10-15% of your patients may be doing the exact same thing! Many practices experience a little summertime dip in their patient visits. Do not let this lull simply pass you by. Take advantage of the extra time in your schedule to do some housekeeping.

Smart practices use this mid-point in the year to perform an assessment of their practices goals. Are you on track to achieving what you envisioned at the start of the year? If not, what can you do to make the second half of the year stellar?

Use the extra time in your schedule to perform your annual compliance activities

One of the more time-intensive activities is to perform self-audits of patient charts. While not always a favorite, this can be one of the most important things you can do to identify holes in your documentation as well as missed opportunities for reimbursement.

If you have not performed such an audit before, it might be a great idea, not to mention a huge saving in time, to hire an outside independent and certified specialist to do this baseline audit for you. Let them look at your documentation before an insurance company does. The team at KMC University has the largest team of certified compliance specialist in the profession. Check out our Three Chart Review service and let us allow you more time to enjoy these summer days!
