Boot Camp FAQ

Q:  Can you tell me a little about the boot camp?

A:  This course is an 18-hour intensive training for both doctors and team members. Across two days, we will train all aspects of the big four areas of financial department work:  1) Coding and Documentation; 2) Patient Financial Systems; 3) Medicare; and 4) Billing and Collections.  Class size is small and intimate. It will be taught in many different ways, with hands on training, lecture, workshops, role playing, etc. And each office will leave with the beginnings of a financial department Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) manual, which they can customize when they return to their office. It also includes 6 months of additional contact with Team KMC, where you can get email support on questions as well as participation in our weekly “Answer Calls”, teleconferences that are held multiple times per week on various aspects of the curriculum training in both the boot camp and our individual consulting with our clients.

Q:  Is the boot camp more appropriate for doctors or CA’s?

A:  This is an intensive seminar to train all aspects of these big four areas of financial department work:  1) Coding and Documentation; 2) Patient Financial Systems; 3) Medicare; and 4) Billing and Collections.  Our experience is that most offices have gotten into some kind of trouble with this department because the doctor has delegated it to a team member, or string of team members, for so long, they don’t know what is even required to run that department. In answer to your question, it’s designed for both. We strongly encourage doctors to attend WITH their financial department team members and/or office managers.

Q:  What materials will we receive with the boot camp?

A:  Each office will receive a training manual with all of the scripts, training guides, role playing instructions, and other material necessary for training at the boot camp and when you return to the office. Published audio and DVD materials for training that are sold by Team KMC are also included in this packet of material. All forms, implementation guides, and training webinars for implementation of the forms and certain systems are also included.  Your instructional manual will be the frame work for your customized financial department SOP manual back at your clinic.

Q:  What are the hours of the boot camp?

A:  On Friday, the hours are 9am to 7pm, and then we’ll gather for a special dinner event. On Saturday, the hours are 8am to 6pm. Saturday, between 8am and Noon, we open the event to local doctors who can register and attend only this part of the boot camp which covers documentation and coding. They are not included with our group, working meals and other special events.

Q:  Are there continuing education credits offered for the class?

A:   There will be hours offered at each boot camp for the four hours of documentation and coding being taught on Saturday morning. Depending on the state, there may be more hours available, as each state requires different things and will allow hours for different subjects. Be sure to check with us for the hours available at the boot camp you are interested in attending.

Q:  Are my meals included?

A:  Most of the meals and snacks over the two days will be provided to you, as we will be working through some of the breaks. We will also be together for a light dinner on Friday night.

Q:  Is the price of the hotel room covered?

A:  No, the hotel room is not covered, but we have arranged for special discounted pricing for participants attending the boot camp. The cut off date is about three weeks prior to the meeting, so please make sure you use the proper code when registering for the room so that you get the special pricing.

Q:  What is the preferred attire for the seminar?

A:  Since seminar rooms can often get cold, we recommend bringing a light sweater or jacket.  This is a small, intimate gathering, and we’ll be doing lots of work shopping and hands on exercises.  Please dress casually for comfort.

Q: What are the fees for the boot camp?

A:  The first person from each office is $2495.  The second person is $1295.  Each additional person from the same office is $495.  We recommend you take advantage of early bird pricing discounts, available up to two weeks before each boot camp. You can save considerably on fees by registering early. The first person is $1995. The second person is $895 and each additional person from the same office is $395.
